There is an Alex Haley quote from Roots I use on my
Help With My Family Tree web site that sums up my love of genealogy. "In all of us there is a hunger, marrow deep, to know our heritage - to know who we are and where we came from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness, and the most disquieting loneliness."
For me, it all started a few years ago when someone contacted me and told me that she thought their great grandmother and my great grandmother were sisters who had immigrated to the United States from Czechoslovakia. I'd never heard anything about other people from my grandmother's family being here in the US, so I told the person who'd contacted me she must be mistaken. Luckily, she persisted and sent me a picture of her great grandmother. Imagine my surprise when I found a picture in an old family album of this woman with my great grandmother! I started digging and found that my great grandmother's aunt, her sister and her brother had all come to America. I had a whole set of cousins I'd never met!
Since then, I've made so many amazing discoveries! I'd love to share my passion with genealogy with you. You can contact me through Ancestry.com, through my
